Foreship MV Kirsten repaired

On 16 December 2011, the Ship Repair & Service Department of Eekels repaired the flooded forecastle of the Wijnne Barends vessel Kirsten.
The flooding happened during rough seas and damaged several essential systems, such as the bow thruster and the emergency generator.
The bow thruster motor and the fire fighting pump were overhauled and the generator was replaced. The bow thruster cabling from the main switchboard to the forecastle and all the internal foreship cabling were renewed.
The bow thruster starter cabinet and several other starter cabinets were renewed and installed.
After 6 days of repairing and successful commissioning, Eekels returned the vessel to its owner.
