Eekels | TBI completes succesful delivery of ‘Thun Renew’

Eekels | TBI proudly completed the electrical installation of the Thun Renew. This vessel, with hull number FS469, is the third ship in a series of ten oil/chemical tankers that are being built for the Swedish shipping company Erik Thun AB. With a length of 115 meters and a cargo capacity of 9.700 m³, the Thun Renew is a strong example of modern maritime engineering.

For this project, Eekels was responsible for the complete design and delivery of the electrical installation. An important part of the vessel is the Multi Drive Cabinet supplied by Marpower. This DC distribution cabinet is equipped with a PTI/PTH/PTO generator, a 125A shore connection and a battery package. Thanks to this configuration, energy management on board is optimized and fuel can be used more efficiently.

In addition, Marpower supplied a Cargo Drive Cabinet for the electric drive of the cargo pumps. The scope of Eekels further included the engineering, installation and commissioning of, among other things, a 440V main and emergency switchboard, the Marpower Automation System, a Marpower drive cabinet, a PTO/PTI/PTH shaft generator, and the Cargo, Navigation, Wing and GMDSS consoles on the bridge.

Eekels also provided the complete cabling and installation work for both its own systems and those of third parties. This included, among other things, the supply and installation of the fire detection and lighting systems, up to and including the stove and the searchlights.

With the succesful delivery of the Thun Renew, Eekels underlines its expertise within the maritime sector. We are proud of our contribution to this project and look forward to the further realization of the remaining tankers in this series. We wish the crew of the Thun Renew a safe voyage and remain committed to innovation and progress in the maritime industry.
