Eekels | TBI delivers electrical installation Ice Crystal
On Friday 15 February 2018, following a successful trial run from the port of Eemshaven, Eekels has delivered the electrical installation of ‘Ice Crystal’, building No. FS446, to Shipyard Ferus Smit in Westerbroek. Eekels has designed and delivered the complete electrical installation for the second of a series of two vessels that were built for the Swedish shipping company Erik Thun AB.
The FS446 is the sister ship of the recently built FS445 ‘Snow Crystal’. The vessels share the same electro-technical characteristics, but the FS446 is 15.6 metres longer.
The ‘Ice Crystal’ is 100.6 metres long and 13.35 metres wide. The vessel is equipped with an installation that enables ‘slow steaming’ with an onboard power supply of both 400V 50Hz and 440V 60Hz. The Eekels delivery comprises a 400/440V main and emergency switchboard, the alarm system, the 275kW bow thruster engine provided with an Eekels frequency drive, a shaft generator and the bridge control panels. In addition to the wiring for their own and third-party installation work, Eekels has supplied the lighting installation, the alarm installation and the search lights.
